Chicken Balls Anybody? HD of course

Around the world, people have gone nuts for Angry Birds. It’s probably one of the most recognisable games or apps on all of the iDevices and, if you loved it and couldn’t get enough, we think we have found something that is similar but adds some new elements. Chicken Balls HD is a new app with a similar concept, but it has managed to stand out on its own.

“You play Crash, the BRAVEST chicken this side of New Mexico. It’s the summer of 1947, you’ve just come back from the war and had hoped to hang up your flight cap for good. When a UFO crash lands just outside the nearby town of Roswell you knew you’d have to take to the skies – one more time.” – Endloop Systems.

Game play

As soon as you start up the app, the bouncy start-up music sets the mood for instant fun. The main objective of the game is to fling Crash (aka your chicken) into the sky and burst the bubble of the alien’s who have abducted the cute baby chickens.

There are a ton of breakable walls and rebound cushions (like pinball) amongst strategically placed cows and pigs. It’s a smorgasbord of destruction, which all leads to one thing: more points.

As well as all of this, there is the added bonus of collecting eggs to earn a reward called Farmageddon. The eggs are placed around each level and every time you collect them your Farmageddon meter gets higher.  When you collect all the eggs the heavens open up and send in a cavalry of pigs and cows – the more aliens you can touch with your finger, the more points you get.

Another cool feature is the additional power ups you unlock as you get further into the game. Boost and Grow are just a couple that might come in handy as you move through the levels, but you’ll have to try it for yourself to find out what these are.

Tweaks Needed

So far we’ve hit level 13 with a two (out of three) star average, but along the way we did experience some tiny bugs. For example, there have been a few occasions when we got Farmageddon and nothing happened except some flashing lights. Where is our ridiculous influx of raining pigs & cows? You’re still able to complete the levels, so don’t let this stop you but hopefully we can see this fixed in the next update.

Verdict

The developers at Endloop Studio’s have created a really addictive game. Chicken Balls HD has a very similar style game play to Angry Birds but the creators have added their own flavour resulting in a variety of new layouts, challenges, and rewards. Version one comes with 50 levels and the developers have promised there will be more levels on the way and free updates, which is great to see.

Chicken Balls HD is currently only available for the iPad and, for a limited time, you can get it for the launch price of 80% OFF!, which makes this cheaper than the $5.99 Angry Birds HD, Awesome.
